About Me
My passion for history, teaching, and learning began as a child. My grandparents were well respected educators in Eastern, North Carolina, allowing for me to gain a love for the classroom and discovering history through hands-on learning. I am a two-time graduate of North Carolina Central University's History department, earning my Master of Arts in African American History and my Bachelor of Arts in African American History with a concentration in Education. My specialties lie in the Civil Rights and Black Liberation Movements in North Carolina. However, I am well versed in several subjects in African and African American history and the African Diaspora. My studies led me to enter the realm of Public History that allowed for me to use my knowledge of secondary education to teach and provide educational tools to the public for the state of North Carolina along with the local and museum sector. My passion lies in historic preservation through herbalism, fashion, music, visual arts and oral history. My current work focuses on preserving African American history through programming and providing resources to local communities.
